| Comics First, the big annoucement! The road to god knows..., my original graphic novel, is now available! It's 148 pages in length, priced at $12.95 US, and can be found at better retailers everywhere. Prefer online? You can purchase a copy at Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Barnes & Noble and other online retailers, too. ![]() To better support the graphic novel, I've created a special site dedicated to it. You can find it at right here or by clicking the image below: Li'l Kids! My first graphic novel, entitled Li'l Kids, is now available! This is a collection of three short stories featuring Marie and Kelly, the main characters from my graphic novel the road to god knows... as young (hence the "lil!") kids. It basically serves as both a background piece and as a way of rounding out their world. It has an ISBN of 978-0-9781237-1-0 and I have to say I'm pleased as punch that it's finally out! There are a few different ways that you can aquire a copy. First of all, it is available as a free Ebook (in PDF format) right over here. This is the complete book, all 88 pages, that you can download and read. That same link will also bring up the various online retailers where you can purchase a copy (or you can jump to either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk right now if you can' wait!). If you're not crazy about Ebooks but would still like to read the short stories for free, you can find them in my comics area right here. Each page of story is set up with navigation buttons so hopefully you won't have any problems moving around. While all the links aren't up quite yet, you can also find the complete scripts and background writing that went into these stories in the scripts area. Stargazer While
my next project, Stargazer,
isn't quite ready for launch, both the website and the new RSS feed for
it are.
The
website can be
found at http://stargazer.vonallan.com.
Please note that the site is very much in beta right now, so
many
buttons and the like don't work. That'll change soon.
The
RSS feed is up and can be found right
here.
Now, the feed will be going through a few hiccups for the
next little while as I test things out. So please bear with
me on that front. Don't forget that you can see art previews
from Stargazer,
too.
What can I say in the meantime? Let's see. The story deals with three young friends (Marni, Elora and Sophie) and a situation they find themselves in that's both magical and truly frightening. The story is very much a fantasy and I'm hoping it compares well to stories like Jeff Smith's Bone and Linda Medley's Castle Waiting. That said, the story is very much set in "our" world to start off with. It's not a high fantasy and is probably closest to something like Matt Wagner's Mage series from this point of view. While the story features children as the main characters it is not exclusively for children if that makes sense. I consider it an all-ages fantasy meaning that the story can hopefully be read and enjoyed by people of, funnily enough, all ages. It's certainly dark at times and very young readers may find it a little too much. 'Course, since I'm so close to it it's tricky for me to judge. I'm curious, as well as more than a little scared, what other people will have to say about it. That's part of the fun of telling stories - I know what I intend to say, but how others react is definitely the wild card. My job is to tell it as best I can and as clearly I can. Everything else flows from that. We'll see how it goes. What else? Actually,
all kinds of
things!
If you'd like to know more about this Von Allan guy, there is
a lot of content here. The essays section has a number of the
pieces I've written over the past few years on comics, webcomics and
graphic novels. The media area has links to various radio and
TV interviews I've done. And, of course, there are links to Stargazer,
my next webcomic and graphic novel. Plus art! All kinds of
art! Make yourself at home and I hope you enjoy what you
see.Thanks! Von |
